Wearable API comparisons, including where we lose

Every page below is dated, sourced, and lists the cases where the other vendor is the better choice. Catalogue breadth and compliance attestations are where WearLink is behind; flat pricing, nutrition in the same API and honest status reporting are where it is ahead.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are the alternatives to Terra API?
The main hosted wearable-data aggregators are Terra, ROOK, Junction (formerly Vital), Spike, Thryve and Sahha, plus open-source self-hosted options such as Open Wearables. WearLink is a smaller, flat-priced alternative with nutrition built in. Each comparison page on this site states where the other vendor is the better choice.
How should I choose a wearable data API?
Check four things in order: whether the specific devices your users own are connectable today (not "supported" on a catalogue page), the pricing model against your expected user activity, the compliance attestations your buyer requires, and where the data is hosted. Everything else is secondary.
Is WearLink cheaper than Terra, ROOK or Junction?
At entry tiers, yes: WearLink starts free and the Developer tier is $99 per month flat. At scale it depends on your activity profile because the others bill by credits or per user. Model your own numbers rather than trusting any vendor example, including ours.
Why do you publish where competitors are better?
Because a customer who switches to WearLink and hits a limitation we knew about is a customer we lose anyway, later and angrier. The comparisons are dated and sourced so you can check them.

Test WearLink against the devices your users actually own

The free tier connects 3 users — enough to verify coverage before you commit to any vendor.
